#HMNYC Project

Interactive Installation, 2010

The #HMNYC Project is an interactive installation designed by Emily Ryan and installed in the H&M window along 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in New York City. Emily won a contest sponsored by H&M to have her art featured in their flagship store. I helped design and fabricate LED lighting for the Manhattan skyline. The networked lighting for the Empire State Building updates the colors every day to match the lighting of the actual building, which cycles through different colors daily.

As Emily states, "Inspired by the unique personalities of New York City's residents #HMNYC is an interactive sculpture that allows users to upload messages via Twitter and photos through Flickr to create their own experience with the display."
